A Big Birthday and Lots of Loot!

Let’s just say that on Saturday my handsome husband celebrated his big “29th” birthday… (if ya know what I mean). Happy Birthday Brent! I think he scored a pretty good party too, thanks to Grandma Finlayson. We went to Brent’s grandparents house in Cerritos and met up with his parents, 2 brothers, and sister-in-law there for a really fun and relaxing day. We were fed a DELICIOUS meal, had birthday cake and ice cream, and got to open lots of birthday presents, early Christmas presents and gave our Christmas gifts to everyone else. (We’ll be with my family for Christmas this year.)

If you haven’t already heard (because I tell anyone who will listen) our gifts from Grandma and Grandpa were annual passes for Disneyland/California Adventure for the whole family!! If you know me or have spent any time with me lately you understand how exciting this is. I literally screamed when I opened the present. It was not asked for and completely unexpected. And all this after I spent a half hour at our meal talking about how bad I want us all to go to Disneyland but just can’t afford it – or at least aren’t willing to pay such a price. The kids have never been and Brent and I haven’t been in almost 7 years. I CAN’T WAIT!! We were going to go for their birthdays this year, but our free hook-ups fell through and I’d been so disappointed ever since. Thank you to our incredibly generous grandparents – who are already taking us on an all expenses paid week long vacation to Aspen Grove this summer! (all day babysitting every day!!) We thought that was present enough.

Other highlights of the day were surprising Brent with tickets to see Wicked in LA for his birthday and our anniversary. We go on New Year’s Day. We never do stuff like that, and need to. So it should be fun. Also, thanks to Grandma and Grandpa cleaning out their garage we inherited two really nice Schwinn mountain bikes for Brent and I, a nice TV, an adorable Danny size snowman for Christmas decor, and a set of 35 year old Tonka trucks and toys that are awesome! Seriously like collector type stuff. They don’t make toys like these anymore. They last forever! All that plus the birthday and Christmas gifts and it literally took 3 car fulls to get everything back to Temecula. The boys have already opened two different piles of presents – so by the time we get to real Christmas it will be number 3 for them. So spoiled! But so loved – I can’t complain.

In other news, my sister Susi’s twins are finally both home and doing well. Ella made a miraculous recovery and finally joined Lucy at home on Saturday. We are all so happy for them. I’m excited to hold the little girls when we stop by Vegas on our way up to Utah. And to wrap things up I just had to post this picture of Jake in his Sunday suit. (Which I got at the Once Upon A Child used clothing store for 8 bucks! pants, jacket, vest, and white shirt like new!) Isn’t he so handsome? And getting so big! No wonder Audrey Dixon wants to marry him… 🙂 Though Jake has informed me they are going to wait until he is 5 to tie the knot.

I love the suit. That would have been perfect for Cameron’s missionary costume. I am glad you guys had a good Christmas.

How is Jo doing? Does she know what she is having? When is she due again?
