BUSTED

Here’s what we’ve been up to lately… After coming home from Utah, we were home for about 3.5 days. In that time we celebrated New Year’s Eve like this: Brent tinkering away on his computer and me swooning over Edward until 10:15 pm when I decided it was time for sparkling cider and off to bed. New Year’s day we went to Hollywood and saw Wicked – which was really good. Thanks Greg and Ellen for the late night babysitting!

The next day I packed everyone up again, took Jake to the doctor’s for his first ever ear infection, and then drove 5 hours up to Fresno where we stayed one night, left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa Nef, then drove another 3 hours in a crazy rain storm up to Sacramento – where about 75% of the city had no power, including our hotel. It was worth it to see my older brother David and his wife Kaci, and their 6 KIDS all be sealed together in the Sacramento temple on Saturday. We met up with my parents, 3 other brothers, and 1 sister while we were there. It was fun to hang out with my little brothers for a day or 2 without any kids there. I felt like we were about 15, 14, and 10 again. We turned around and all drove home on Saturday night/Sunday morning and managed to make it back in time for 12:30 church. Though everyone was so exhausted – Danny actually fell asleep at the dinner table around 5. Poor kid! No one should have to spend that many hours in a car within a 2 week time frame… especially a 2 year old.

So now I’m home, unpacking AGAIN, hopefully for a longer stint this time, and mourning my vampire books. I finished them over the weekend and am so sad – I need more! My boys are driving me nuts lately because they seem to do nothing but fight. Jake purposely teases Danny 24/7 and Danny constantly screams and cries – just the reaction Jake seems to enjoy. ARGHH!! It’s making me look forward to Jacob’s all day, every day kindergarten next year… Is that bad?

Now, for the funny story that I’d wanted to document at the time, but was still a little miffed and so put it off till it was funnier in hindsight. About a week ago we were all racing around trying to get ready for church on Sunday. Everyone seemed to be a little cranky for some reason or another. Brent had loaded the boys into the car and was waiting in the driveway with the engine running. I got into the car and Jake says, “Dad, are you going to tell Mom what you said?” And Brent looks kind of perplexed, doesn’t answer. Jake says, “Da-ad, are you going to tell her? Remember?… you said that Mom was annoying.”

BUSTED.

I say, really irritated, “What? Why am I annoying?” Jake panics and shouts, pointing at Brent – “He said it! Not me!!” To which Brent laughs, and I glare out the window trying very hard not to laugh, and look mad instead.

What is it about Sunday mornings and trying to get out the door for church? I swear that seems like my once a week meltdown.

That is so very extremely funny. I stared at the monitor reading and rereading while giggling, er, laughing all manly like, I mean.

I just told Tami that I was going to start a website called stakeEdwardCullen.com… She then told me that won’t kill him. After I found out the proper way I now propose dismemberAndBurnEdward.com… It’s not because I’m particularly swayed one way or the other, but I figure with all these women swooning over Edward, the husbands and significant others could use a nice place to snigger and do the online equivalent of patting our wives on the head for their little book crush.

amen to the kids driving you nuts these days! it is refreshing to hear that another mother feels that way. and especially refreshing to hear you excited for all-day kindergarten. 🙂 it is my personal DREAM that we will end up in a school district that has all-day kindergarten. its better for all of us really.

and i have to laugh about the twilight mourning. scott has makes fun of me regularly for getting a little to caught up in those books.

i hope you don’t have to drive anywhere far away again for a long time!

While researching that Brent’s proposed website I saw this one that was open as well. DISMEMBERANDKILLEDWARDONLINE.COM
I think that one could be more fun with flash games and the like.
