Well, I’d officially call Halloween a big success this year. Jake was adamant about being Spiderman, and thankfully Danny was thrilled with his Batman costume. Or as Danny says, “PiderMan!” and “BAH – MAH!” I thought my little superheroes were pretty cute – out fighting crime on the streets of Temecula, armed with plastic pumpkins.
We were able to hit two trunk or treats – one with our cousins in Temecula on Tuesday, and another with our other cousins (my sister and kids) in Escondido on Wednesday. Double the loot! Danny and Jake especially loved zooming down the big blow up slide on Tuesday. Wednesday the kids all had a blast running around slinging imaginary webs at each other, light saber fighting, and reaching new levels of hyperactivity. Jacob and Danny sure do love their cousins! The underage party didn’t die until about 10 pm when all the kids passed out on the big bed together watching Monsters Inc. I really enjoyed watching them have so much fun together. Holidays are the best with little kids – though they definitely do not promote a healthy diet! We all ate hot dogs and chili two nights in a row, then got all hopped up on sugar shortly after (NOTE TO SELF: Stay away from the scale!).
This was the first year Brent and I didn’t really dress up – normally I love to, but this year we didn’t have any big parties to go to and it seemed like we were always rushing around. So we kept it simple and let the kids do the pretending. Though we did try to be festive by watching Disturbia late Halloween night with my sister, Joanne, and bro-in-law Mark. I’m not a big fan of scary movies, but Disturbia was fun. Just the right amount of scary for me.
Afterwards we had to load up all the sleeping kids and drive back to Temecula. In the morning Brent couldn’t find his shoes – and thought he might have left them on the street outside my sisters’ house when we were loading up. They checked – no shoes. Mark said, “Are you sure you didn’t put them on the roof then drive away?” We both looked at each other and said, “That’s what that noise was!!” Sure enough, Brent went back later that morning and found his shoes (socks still stuffed inside) scattered along the side of the road right before the freeway on ramp. He thinks one of them might have been run over a few times… but they are still in OK shape. This is now becoming a trend with Brent. About a year ago he did the same thing with his glasses – which unfortunately did not come away so lucky. I guess these are the kinds of things you do when you are quickly approaching 30. HA! Just kidding dear. Anyways – here are more pictures of the festivities, narrated as always by Brent. My favorites are the ones of the boys checking themselves out in the bathroom mirror – classic! But what I’m wondering – is now that Halloween is over, does that mean I can get my Christmas tree out?? Too soon? I thought so…
