Happy Happy Birthday Tedward Dear!

This post is in honor of my little brother Ted’s 25th birthday today! Happy Birthday Teddy! For those of you who are wondering about the “Tedward” – well his real name is Edward, but he goes by Ted (like my dad) – hence my all time favorite nick name for him, Tedward. I think it’s got a nice ring to it. Don’t you?

Ted is only 1 year younger than me – and in a family of 9 kids, he was my definite buddy growing up. At times it almost felt like being a twin. There goes “Tami and Teddy.” I think we shared a room with bunk beds until we were like 8 or so. One of my favorite memories of growing up with Teddy was when we were little and after we were tucked in at night I’d get scared of the big open closet and the boogeyman who was hiding in there. But of course I was too scared to get out of bed myself and close it – so almost every night I would tell Teddy that if he got up and closed the closet door I would give him a quarter in the morning. Never failed – he did it every time and forgot about the quarter every morning! What a sucker! Ha! I probably owe him about 50 bucks in quarters. (Don’t expect me to pay up anytime soon Ted.)

I loved growing up with a brother so close in age. We always got along really well. (Besdies the few times as children we tried to kill each other via hair pulling, trampoline shoving, and vicious poolside tactics.) Ted was one of my best friends through high school and college. We actually liked to hang out together, had several mutual friends, and were able to conspire against certain authoritative figures when necessary. Teddy – remember the “dead body” on the side of the road? And when Kelly nailed that seagull at the beach?! HA! I’ll never forget the last few moments of your goldfish’s life. And don’t forget Todd selling bananas on the side of the road or Kenny flying off the treadmill… ah memories.

It’s weird that we are all grown up now. I’m so proud of my bro. He is a returned missionary, has a degree in business from BYU, and is married in the temple to a really cool chick who I actually like to hang out with (and who is perfect for him!). I’m also proud that I recently got him to run a 5K with me (Ted hates running even more than I do!). I love how laid back and truly cool my brother is. I also love that we can have entire conversations made up of nothing but movie quotes. On his mission, our emails often consisted of movie quotes – and nothing more! It’s an art form, really. Anyways, here is wishing Tedward has a great year and great day. Happy Birthday little brother! Love ya!

Happy Birthday Teddy! I still remember the moment you were born when I said to the doctor, after he said the famous words “It’s a boy”, I then said–“are you sure it’s a boy”–spoken after three girls–and then I cried and had a stuffy nose. Immediately Dad said that you looked my Dad, Arlow, hence the middle name. but you do have his speaking ability as noted in your baby blessing.

You have always been a great joy. May you have a stupendous year!! Quarter of a century–WOW!

Well geez I feel like a frickin’ celebrity. Ken-you still owe me for the popsicle incident. all I ask is that you take my dog out for a poop once in a while. coulda been a good birthday present. tama-rama-ding-dong, thanks for all the nice things u said about me even though we did spend the first 14 years of our lives as bitter enemies. remember the couch/remote control/hair pulling/wrestling incident where grandma tried to intervene. good times, good times. and sooz, one of the best big sisters in the world. such an example and supportive friend. and were all excited for you to give birth to your twins–ASAP. =) and jo, well you didnt write anything but you did call so your ok. if you do read this, your cool too. mark’s ok too. mom and dad–thanks for giving birth to me, making sure i was a boy, and raising me to be the wonderful person i am today. and to my sexy wife, who didnt write anything, but it is reading this as i write this–i love you. and roxy who is sitting on my arm making it really difficult to type, your pretty cute. and byh the way, hope everyone had a nice halloween. Meg was a black kitty cat, roxy was a lady bug (not my idea, i am still not one of THOSE kinds of people) and i was ICEMAN from TOP GUN with my white navy uniform from the high school choir concert and some sweet ICEMAN shades. love ya’ll.

Hey Teddy Boy! Happy B-day! It’s uh.. midnight, and I just saw the email from Tami. So, sorry for the delayed response, but better late than never (so they say. Not sure who “they” are, but nevermind). 25 huh. Wow, time’s a movin’. Well, you’ve always been a good little brother. I’m real proud of all your accomplishments. Just keep up the great work.

Ted . . . uhhh . . . I’m here too. I know I am not a surfer stud like Mark, but hey . . . I’M HERE!!! Have a great birthday I guess. I’ll never forget George of the Jungle, Saturday Night Fever dancing with Kenny, and the baseball incident (no I am not going to go into detail on that one). Hope you had a Happy Birthday! For the record, I think you are ALL awesome! I’m very thankful to have such a great (and wacko) family as in-laws.
