Evidence!… And Some Eggs.

Since the last post, I went on an unofficial mission to find some photographic evidence that I did indeed birth Danny. Obviously my blonde and blue little boy is very much his fathers’ son – but check out these pictures of me and Danny, both at about 3 months old…

There you have it! Proof that at least a few of my genes were passed along – especially the chubby one.

Easter weekend was nice and mellow, with just our family at home. We had a big breakfast and a backyard egg hunt that involved way too much candy. Thankfully, the Easter Bunny did not disappoint when he delivered mini Etch-a-Sketches to Jake and Danny. Danny doesn’t really get it, or is just too busy inhaling jelly beans. But Jacob and Brent (who commandeered Danny’s) are freakishly adept at using the things. This baffles me because I feel like I am trying to write backwards with two left feet. Here are some pictures of the festivities, including one blast from the past.

It’s weird how you have pictures of you and your kids doing the exact same things… Anyways – off on a tangent now: church. I have been asked to sing in various music arrangements about 6 times over the last 2 months. (Easter being the most recent, plus a funeral tomorrow.) I seem to be on some sort of a circuit as of late – maybe just because I’m ready and willing. I can’t complain because I love to sing, but I do not claim to have any spectacular talent. I just worry that people may be starting that inward groan every time I get up, thinking, “Oh no, here she goes again…” Oh well. At least I’m enjoying myself and getting some practice on my pipes.

My current calling is Sunday school teacher for the 13 year olds. I’ve been doing this for over a year now, and am surprised at how much I enjoy it. I especially love getting to know the awesome youth in our ward. Sunday one of the girls in my class brought me a wrapped Easter gift – a necklace and earrings she made herself! I was so touched. I really do love these kids and regard them as my friends. Before this calling, I was the primary chorister for 3 years, and absolutely loved it. Though with both callings I was a little freaked out when I received them – wondering if I could possibly pull them off. But as long as I try my best and keep a good attitude, Heavenly Father helps me rise to the challenge. It’s one of the things I love most about the church – you are constantly being stretched, and developing new talents in the process. And you gain such a love for the people you serve! Kind of funny how that works… but it’s so true. Anyways – I’m grateful for the opportunities… even when they seem like a lot of work. So I guess my thought for the day is this: Don’t doubt your potential. You can do it!

You really were an amazing primary chorister…I’m sad Alli didn’t get to have you teach her the primary songs… and I know those teenagers love having you as their teacher….you are “cool” in their eyes too—hard to do.

Don’t worry, you are a great singer! I on the other hand would never dare sing in front of a crowd!

Cute kids…. I am including you when you were 3Mo. I just had my first 5 months ago. They grow so fast and it is really easy sometimes to see how they resemble their parents.
