Easter Shmeester

Since Brent had to fly to Washington DC for business last Sunday, we celebrated Easter twice this year – once on Saturday with Daddy and once on Sunday with cousins. Saturday the boys were surprised by a doorbell ditching Easter bunny, who left a note leading them on a wild goose chase of eggs around the house, back inside, and eventually up the stairs and into their room. It was pretty fun to watch them pick up speed, thinking they were really hot on the trail of the Easter bunny. Jake even seemed disappointed when he found a basket of goodies instead of the actual bunny. He was pretty ticked nobody actually saw the Easter bunny – considering the fact that he was just inside our house. 🙂 Danny however, was STOKED over his new “light saver.”

We opted to make sugar cookies (from scratch!) instead of decorate Easter eggs this year. So much more yummy – and just as festive. We had 6 colors of frosting! They weren’t the prettiest cookies ever (Jake really likes to decorate his own), but holy cow so delicious. Brent is in love with these cookies (his Grandma’s recipe), so these were his Easter treat. My Easter treat was coming home to a surprise bouquet of GORGEOUS hot pink tulips. My sweet husband said he realized it had been a long time and just wanted to tell me he thought I was doing a great job and was an awesome wife and mother. Awwww. Thanks dear.

After church, we said goodbye to Brent for the next 5 days (poor guy dined on airplane peanuts for Easter), and me and the kiddos loaded up and headed down to my sister’s house for a delicious dinner and ALL BOY egg hunt. Five boy cousins under the age of 8 always equals lots of fun and an INSANE amount of noise. Not to mention a few tantrums here and there (see Jake). But man, the built-in buddies are priceless. And look how cute they are all lined up! I’m thinking Lindsay will be safe when she hits dating age…

Cute pictures and writing. I, too, would like the sugar cookie recipe. It was fun for Dad and I to spend Easter with all of you kids in SD.
    Love, Mom
