Happy Valley Vacay

First of all – what has happened bloggers? It seems like nobody is updating and nobody is commenting. I worry that people are too busy facebooking and tweeting to blog. LAME. I love blogs the best. Sooo if you are still reading this – speak up! I’m feeling neglected. But either way – this is the best family journal/scrapbook I’ve ever kept and I’m gonna keep on. Even if I’m the only one reading.

This post is about a week late, but better late than never, right? We packed up the van and headed to Happy Valley for the week before school started. Brent had a few cousins getting married – so we took the excuse to hole up at the mansion, see old friends and family, eat a lot of good food, and try to relax (as much as that’s possible with three LOUD little kids).

Sidenote: The best thing about staying at my parents’ house is that our kids literally disappear. Their house/yard is so big, and they have so many toys, that the kids usually only resurface when they are dehydrated or weak from lack of food. And even then, Grandma usually comes to the rescue before we can ever find which kitchen they’re in. Danny actually complained the whole week because we didn’t think to bring our walkie talkies…

While we were there we ate a lot of ice cream, introduced Lindsay to her Great Grandma and Grandpa Nef, hit a birthday party and family reunion, escaped the kiddies for some Alpine hiking, and managed to snap a few family pictures (for the first time since LJ was born!) And man, as much as there may be to mock about Utah – it really is a beautiful place. The green mountains all around were just breathtaking and made for a gorgeous backdrop.

We also had a grand old time getting our hot tub, trampoline, fire pit, Guitar Hero, and Donkey Kong on. By the way if you’ve never seen King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters – go rent it NOW. One of the best movies ever!! Rock on Steve Wiebe.

In fact, we were so unproductive on our trip that we paid like 10 bucks a person and took the kids to go see G-Force in 3D. Yeah, for that much money I’m keeping my glasses, thank you very much. And thanks to the lovely absence of my never ending to-do list, I got bored one night and decided to play dress up in my mom’s closet.

Let the record show – in my mom’s hot young single babe days – she worked it in this signature teeny tiny blue dress. Funny thing is – she swears it wasn’t that short when she wore it. Suurrre Mom. Whatever it takes to get you to the front row at every Elvis concert and invited to the after party…

After all that fun – we decided to extend our stay by one extra day. Brent felt he needed a vacation from his vacation. Meaning a day where he was allowed to stay in his jammies till 2 and not have to go anywhere or do anything. I’m pretty sure it was his favorite day. Thanks Mom and Dad for letting us wear out our welcome!

I don’t think it’s too embarrassing, I could have put the actual picture in the comment, now people have to actually click on the link. That takes a lot of work. Besides, Tyler already made fun of my “psychotic” pic with the ice cream.

I’m reading, and for the record I clicked on the link to check out the picture, and if I were you I wouldn’t be embarrassed! I’d be stinking proud of myself that I could pull off a dress like that and make it look good! What a fun trip! I’m bummed we weren’t able to get together. One of these times! We still haven’t even met your sweet Lindsey (do you guys even call her Lindsey or just LJ?)

It always feel empty when you leave. I checked out Brent’s extra picture–it was great!. Just think-the real ELVIS stood right next to that very dress!!

Well…you should be pleased with 16 comments. Although some of them came from you and Brent so I don’t know if that counts. Lots of cute pics and yeah the one of you and Brent kissing is a little gross! 🙂 ha ha…I don’t know why you left the one of you and elvis out…that one is awesome. So yeah…I took the kids to see a 3d movie a while ago and was outraged at the price they charge…then after the movie, I thought I totally should have kept those glasses especially since we have polar express in 3d at home and no glasses!!! I figured I totally paid for them! I may have to borrow those 🙂

Thanks for the little “reminder” to update my sad blog. Now it’s back in action! Man, you look so freakin’ good in your pics. If LJ grows up to have a fraction of your hotness Brent had better start loading the gun now!

One of these days you’ll have to take us up to your parents’ place so we can take in those views first hand *wink*! Hmmm my snowboard is itching for a trip to Utah this winter…

So fun that you get to go on vacation to visit your parents…. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great being close to my parents, but sometimes I wouldn’t mind going away to see them, and having this great reunion and grandparents spoilage, and then returning home to normal life 🙂 Looks like you had a really fun trip away from it all. I love unproductive trips! It’s what you need in a vacation. Way cute pictures! I love the happy valley mountains in the background, so beautiful!
