I totally lucked out for Halloween. Last year I bought a few costumes for LJ at a hand-me-down store for a few bucks, and also bought Superman and Batman costumes at Old Navy right around Halloween for only 4 bucks a pop (instead of 29$ each!) We busted them out this year, they all fit everyone perfectly, and nobody needed convincing. Score!

Being the girl, Lindsay of course wore two costumes – though in the end, Dorothy was the clear winner. She looked SO CUTE on Halloween trick-or-treating with her little basket and red shoes that I could’ve died from melting into a pool of mushy love goo.

And Jake was equally as handsome as Clark Kent with his parted hair and built-in muscles. Danny rocked Batman, as usual. He has been obsessed with him ever since he was 2 (when he was Batman for the first time). This year he even got the deep gravelly voice down, and stayed in character by hiding in the shadows and disappearing while trick-or-treating all night long. Mom did not appreciate it so much.
Brent and I were party poopers and did not dress up in the slightest. Being 8 months pregnant really takes the fun out of it. We’ll do better next year. We did have fun “carving” milk jugs this year though, instead of pumpkins. So much easier, more fun, less expensive, and less messy!!

And onto the next – Jake’s baptism! Brent did a great job and baptized and confirmed our oldest child a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Nov. 5th. My dad spoke at the service, where he told his conversion story and talked about finally being on “the winning team.” It was the highlight of the program for Jake. And I ended up filling in last minute for the musical number and sang (somewhat badly) “Teach Me To Walk in the Light” with my sister Joanne and niece Julienne (who has an amazing voice, thank goodness). I hope Jacob will remember some of the things he heard that day and how he felt. He was lucky to have lots of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends be a part of his big day. Jake will tell you though, that the best part of everything was… the TREATS. After the closing prayer, Jake looked up at Brent, made a big-eyed goofy face, and said, “BROWNIES!!” Ha. Love him. He is such a good kid. It was a wonderful day that I really enjoyed.

And it only made me feel slightly old. 😉
